Advanced Physiotherapist PractitionerChris Robson Qualified from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle in 2003 with BSc in Physiotherapy. I have worked for the NHS since leaving university and specialised in musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy since 2005-6. I have worked as an advanced physiotherapist in outpatient clinics since 2009 which involved working alongside many orthopaedic consultants and assisting them during clinics. I went on to specialise further in MSK (musculoskeletal conditions) physiotherapy by completing the MACP in manual therapy at MSc level at Teesside University 2013. I gained the accreditation of independent physiotherapist prescriber in 2016 and injection therapist in 2017. As an advanced physiotherapy practitioner now employed full time at St Andrews Medical practice I am keen to develop the role which will involve assessment of any MSK conditions, provide advice and management, offer investigations if required, prescribe appropriate medication and deliver joint/tendon corticosteroid injection clinics. Updated: 09/10/2019 Training PracticeGP Registrars A GP Registrar is a fully qualified doctor, typically with several years hospital experience, who is preparing to enter general practice by working in a practice for one year before moving on to a permanent post. This is a compulsory experience for any doctor wishing to enter general practice. A Registrar attached to the practice operates as one of the GPs, but under the supervision and guidance of one of the partners in the practice. You may be offered an appointment with, or a home visit from, the GP Registrar. As part of the training process, consultations with a GP Registrar may be video recorded. This will only be done with your prior consent and you have the right to decline. Foundation Doctor The practice also trains Foundation level (F2) doctors. A foundation doctor is a grade of medical practitioner in the United Kingdom undertaking a two year general postgraduate medical training programme, which forms the bridge between medical school and specialist/general practice training. You may be offered an appointment with a foundation doctor. Updated: 17/09/2019 Students From time to time we may have medical students assigned to work alongside our doctors to gain experience of General Practice work. |
